Terms of Service

Acceptance of these terms

By downloading, installing or using Tchaku (the “Software”) or this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are using Tchaku on behalf of an organization, you accept these terms for that organization. If you do not agree, please do not use Tchaku.

The Tchaku software

Tchaku is a presentation studio for macOS, Windows and the browser. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Software on devices you own or control, subject to these terms.

The editor and its core features are free to use, and the desktop apps do not require an account. Paid plans add larger AI credit allotments, premium tools and export formats, as described on the pricing page. We may update, improve or discontinue features of the Software over time.

Your decks and your files

Tchaku is local-first. On desktop, the decks you create are .tch files stored on your own device (decks from before the rename keep their .animproextension and open the same way); in the browser, decks live in your browser’s own storage. You own your decks and everything in them — we claim no ownership of, and no licence to, your content.

Your deck content reaches our infrastructure only through actions you take: publishing a share link, running a live session, uploading a recording, or making an AI request. Apart from that, we do not access, transmit or store your deck files. You are responsible for backing up your own files.

Live audience sessions

When you run a live-audience slide, Tchaku opens a temporary session on our real-time infrastructure so audience members can join from their phones. By running a session you agree that:

• you are responsible for the conduct of your session and for the content your audience submits;
• you will not use a session to collect sensitive personal information;
• sessions expire so they can no longer be joined; if you are signed in, a results snapshot is saved to your account until you delete it.

AI generation

Tchaku’s AI features are metered in credits and run through our servers, which call third-party model providers (currently Anthropic, OpenAI and Meshy) using Tchaku’s own keys — you never manage an API key. The content you submit for generation is processed by those providers under their own terms, and AI requests are logged as described in our Privacy Policy.

Credit allotments and prices are shown on the pricing page; credits have no cash value and are not transferable. AI-generated content may be inaccurate or unsuitable — you are responsible for reviewing it before use, and we make no warranty as to AI output.

Paid plans and billing

Paid plans — the Pro and Studio subscriptions and the one-time Event Pass — are billed through Stripe at the prices shown on the pricing page.

• subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled;
• you may cancel at any time and keep access through the end of the paid period;
• if a subscription isn’t for you, email us within 14 days of a charge and we’ll refund it in full.

We never receive or store your full payment-card details — Stripe processes all payments.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use Tchaku for unlawful purposes;
• reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code, except where permitted by law;
• resell or redistribute the Software;
• use live sessions to harass, deceive or harm others, or to collect data without proper consent;
• interfere with, overload or disrupt our infrastructure.

Intellectual property

Tchaku, its name, logo and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms grant you a licence to use the Software — not any ownership of it. The decks, templates and content you create with Tchaku remain entirely yours.

Disclaimers

The Software and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Tchaku. Our total liability for any claim relating to Tchaku will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-app or on this website. Continuing to use Tchaku after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
